Alanis Morissette has filed a lawsuit against her former tour manager, Keren Urinov, accusing her of trying to pressure the singer with threats tied to an airport drug incident. The complaint, filed Tuesday, Sept. 1, seeks more than $75,000 in damages and alleges civil extortion, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Urinov worked as Morissette’s tour manager in 2025 while the singer and her team traveled to the U.K. for a performance in Spain.

The lawsuit says Urinov was stopped and detained by authorities at a U.K. airport for additional inspection. She allegedly told Morissette and other members of the team that authorities had issued a seizure notice for a bag containing marijuana and xylazine, a tranquilizer.

Urinov reportedly showed officers an Israeli medical marijuana license and was later released. The complaint does not allege that Morissette owned the drugs or that she was arrested in connection with the incident.

After the tour ended, however, Morissette claims Urinov and her attorney sent several letters demanding action and threatening legal consequences.

Alleged Extortion Demands

Morissette’s legal team describes the situation as a “calculated blackmail campaign.” The complaint says Urinov allegedly demanded that Morissette tell British police the drugs belonged to her.

According to the lawsuit, Urinov offered to end the dispute if Morissette agreed to a 15-year, full-time employment contract. The proposed deal allegedly included “an income equivalent to that of a tour director with annual increases and bonuses.”

Morissette refused the demand. The complaint says later correspondence from Urinov and her lawyer allegedly suggested that Morissette could face accusations involving drug trafficking.

The filing says Morissette “reluctantly” filed the lawsuit. She said she had “no choice” but to defend herself. She described the allegations as “patently frivolous.”

Lawsuit Seeks Damages

The complaint states that Morissette “will not agree to work with an incompetent blackmailer for the next 15 years or pay her a ransom under the gun.”

Morissette is seeking more than $75,000 in damages. The case centers on her claims against Urinov for civil extortion, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation.

PEOPLE reported that attempts were made to contact Urinov through her social media account. The publication also reached out to Morissette’s representatives for further comment.

The lawsuit contains allegations against Keren Urinov, and no court has found her liable for wrongdoing. Morissette says the dispute began with a 2025 U.K. airport incident involving alleged drug claims and later threats.
